There comes a time in our lives sometimes where we feel that we no longer have the answers to how to deal with the challenges we are facing. For many of us, we may find ourselves unable to navigate around the barriers that have been placed before us. These unexpected challenges can be overwhelming and leave a person feeling very alone and contribute to feelings of being helpless---even hopeless.

Hi! I am Sadique Pathan and I have a Master’s of Social Work Degree and am a Registered Social Worker. I also graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Islamic Theology from the University Of Jordan. My journey has been a humbling one in where I have been fortunate to work in different capacities of counselling and therapeutic supports over the last 22 years. What I have discovered and have come to appreciate through my interacting with people who have faced personal challenges, is that each individual has the profound ability to bring positive changes into their lives and that they have the capacity to overcome their challenges. I continue to be inspired in seeing how an individual in spite of facing seemingly impossible circumstances can meet despair with hope and transform themselves into living resiliency.

I have extensive experience which includes working in government agencies in Edmonton, Calgary, the England, and Jordan. I also have significant experience in the areas of mental health, addictions, domestic violence, couples counselling, parenting and post divorce counselling, spirituality, immigration, motor vehicle accident, and work-related conflict. In addition, I have teaching and research experience through my role as a field practicum coordinator in the Faculty of Social Work at Qatar University.

My focus when working with you is in providing a person-centred approach which essentially is about starting where you are! You are my guest and as such I seek to ensure you have a safe space to express whatever you wish to. An essential aspect of my practice is comprised on upholding your confidentiality, and ensuring that their is a strong therapeutic relationship with you. The therapeutic relationship is established by my honouring your experiences and by showing genuine empathy.

While there are different therapeutic approaches, ultimately I make sure that the approach will be one that is customized to meet your needs. There are different modalities that I draw upon which include the Cognitive Therapy Model, Spiritual Infused Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Theory.

My personal interests include traveling, hiking, reading, and contemplation. I am an active member of my local community and advocate for anti racism policies and work in fostering Interfaith relationships as a local Imam. I also am also fluent in additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, and am able to understand Punjabi.
